Lost and Found: Student-Driven Teaching Approach

As a James Millikin Scholar, our pianist, Christina Cummins, has had the opportunity to work on a two-year independent research project. As a future music educator, she has always had the passion for teaching and for teaching for her students rather than for the curriculum or standardized tests. Christina created her own music camp to employ this teaching approach. Campers are able to explore the sounds around them and lead the agenda for the day, rather than sticking to a preplanned schedule. Christina will be sharing some research, but mostly, her experience throughout the process, including some interactive portions so the congregation can feel like we are a part of the magic.
